Bike Expert & Sales Consultant
BlackHeart Bike Company manufactures titanium and aluminum bikes that prioritize the needs of the average cycling enthusiast. Based in Truckee, CA, we’re a small, deliberate brand with a clear point of view — and we’re looking for someone who shares it. This isn’t a retail floor role. It’s a inside sales position that is focused on consulting with potential customers on brand, model, fit, and build options. It requires deep knowledge of road and gravel categories, the competitive landscape, bike fit and geometry theory, and bike components. And, a passion to talk about bikes day in and day out.
What you’ll do
– Field and own inbound inquiries
Handle purchase inquiries across email, phone, and web — from first question to confirmed order. You’re the first real conversation most customers have with BlackHeart.
– Lead 1:1 DTC consultations
Guide customers through bike selection with authority — geometry, sizing, riding style, build spec. Help someone figure out which BlackHeart is theirs, or be honest when something else might be a better fit.
– Support US independent dealers
Be a reliable, knowledgeable point of contact for our IBD network. Handle B2B inquiries, assist with product questions, and support the outside sales rep on account management.
– Own post-purchase customer experience
Manage post-purchase support — unboxing, setup, fit follow-ups, component compatibility, and warranty questions. You’re not handling fulfillment logistics, but you are the person customers come back to.
– Support our outside sales reps
Coordinate on dealer accounts, provide product intel, and help keep the sales pipeline moving.
What we’re looking for
– Deep product knowledge
You can speak fluently about geometry, frame materials, drivetrain compatibility, tire clearance, and how all of it interacts with how and where someone rides — across brands, not just ours.
– Consultative sales instinct
You listen before you pitch. You ask good questions. You understand that the right recommendation builds more long-term trust than the easy close.
– Industry awareness
You follow what’s happening in the market — new models, spec changes, where brands are positioning. A customer might ask how a BlackHeart stacks up against something they saw at their local shop, and you’ll know.
– Clear, authentic communication
Whether you’re writing an email or taking a call, you sound like a real person who loves bikes — not a script. BlackHeart has a distinct voice and you should be able to carry it naturally.
Nice to have
– Experience at a bike brand, IBD, or as a brand ambassador or rep
– Familiarity with gravel, road, and/or endurance riding disciplines
– Comfort with Shopify, CRM tools, or similar platforms
– Background in bike fitting or sizing consultation
– Interest in managing our brand website front end
– Insight into U.S. sales strategy in the cycling or similar space
Compensation & logistics
– $58,000–$78,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
– Performance-based commission
– On-site in Truckee, CA preferred — hybrid or remote considered for the right candidate
– Benefits package includes healthcare, dental, 401K, stock grants
