Point Canvas, Osaka: A Local's Guide to Riding Ikeda
Welcome to Dealer Spotlight. Our dealers know their roads better than anyone, so we asked them for the local lowdown.
First stop is Point Canvas in Ikeda, just outside Osaka. It's a bike shop and a café with the mountains right on the doorstep. It's also our home for BlackHeart in Japan, with fresh stock of Road AL, Road Plus AL and Gravel AL frames in store now.

Point Canvas opened in May 2025 with a simple idea: treat the ride, the roads and the mountains as a canvas, and let every rider leave their own mark. Step inside and you'll get it straight away. White walls, light grey accents, clean lines. A blank canvas.
Think of this as a local's guide: what to order, where to ride, and where to go once the ride's done.
The drink: Hojicha Latte

Every good ride starts with a drink. Theirs isn't coffee. Point Canvas's pick is their Hojicha Latte, made with roasted green tea whisked to order at the counter. "We whisk the tea right on the spot, so the aroma and flavor are exceptional."
The ride: their go-to loop

With the mountains on the doorstep, it's hard to pick a route. Here's theirs: 24 miles with 2,240 ft. of climbing, starting and finishing in Ikeda. It's the shop's classic route, and it's easy to stretch. Want more distance or more climbing? Ask the team and they'll point you to an extension.

Three spots worth the stop
Off the bike, Ikeda is quiet, but the good spots are worth seeking out!
Point Canvas. Yes, they picked themselves, and fair enough. Alongside the coffee there's morning toast, plus pasta and sandwiches at lunch. With so many rides rolling out from the door, it's the easiest place to meet local cyclists.

JOZU+. Up in Toyono Town at the northern edge of Osaka, this mountain spot is built around fermented foods and original furniture made by Jozu Kousakusho. It's calm, delicious, and the kind of place where you can easily lose half a day. @jozu_plus

ototo coffee. A café in a traditional old Japanese house, serving curry and coffee with records spinning in the background. Some weekend nights there's live music, so check their Instagram for dates and details. @ototo_coffee
